Automatic paired distance estimation

After the graph has been optimized using reads as described above, long unambiguous paths through the graph, which represent contigs, will often exist. By analyzing how reads map to these contigs, the de novo assembler can often give an accurate estimate of the distance between paired reads. The automatic distance estimation is conservative and only distance estimates supported by a significant number of reads is used.
