CLC Server File System Location indexes

The CLC Server maintains indexes of the elements in each CLC Server File System Location. Indexes are updated when new elements are created or updated and are thus generally expected to be up to date3.1.

The functionality listed below relies on location indexes, so if issues are observed with these, re-indexing may resolve the problem.

Rebuilding location indexes

While indexes are generally expected to be up to date, they can be rebuilt by clicking on the Rebuild Index button next to a CLC Server File System Location in the File system locations area under Configuration | Main configuration. Click on the Rebuild all indexes button to rebuild indexes for all the locations (figure 3.6).

Important: Rebuilding indexes for locations with a lot of data elements can take a long time.

Figure 3.6: The index for each CLC Server File System Location can be rebuilt. This is useful when searching does not return expected results, but it can take a long time for locations with many data elements.

Details about indexing operations can be seen in the Audit log, under the Management tab.

Reusing location indexes when the CLC Server is moved

If you install the CLC Server on a new system, and will be configuring the same directories as CLC Server File System Locations on the new setup as were used on the old setup, you can make use of the existing indexes by doing the following:

Footnotes

... date3.1
Updates to the search system introduced in version 23.0 require search indexes to be manually re-built when upgrading from a version earlier than 23.0 to a newer version. In version 23.0 and later, indexes are stored in a folder called searchindex2 in the installation area of the CLC Server. After building the new search indexes, the folder called searchindex in the installation area, which contains the old indexes, can be deleted.
