Gel electrophoresis
CLC Cancer Research Workbench enables the user to simulate the separation of nucleotide sequences on a gel. This feature is useful when e.g. designing an experiment which will allow the differentiation of a successful and an unsuccessful cloning experiment on the basis of a restriction map.
There are two main ways to simulate gel separation of nucleotide sequences:
- One or more sequences can be digested with restriction enzymes and the resulting fragments can be separated on a gel.
- A number of existing sequences can be separated on a gel.
