CLC Drug Discovery Server - installation notes
When the CLC Drug Discovery Server has been installed, a few extra steps are needed to make the Import Molecules from SMILES or 2D command work on the server.
The Import Molecules from SMILES or 2D command requires a third-party software program called Balloon to be installed on the server (and on all server job nodes that should be able to execute this command).
Balloon is freeware and can be downloaded from the website http://users.abo.fi/mivainio/balloon/download.php (available for Windows, Mac and a variety of Linux platforms).
The Import Molecules from SMILES or 2D looks for the location of the installed Balloon executable file using an environment variable called "BALLOON_LOCATION". Therefore, the server administrator needs to set the environment variable on all available server nodes to point to this location, e.g. BALLOON_LOCATION = /usr/local/balloon/balloon.
