Saving and reusing filter sets
Filter sets defined using the advanced filtering options can be reused either through copy/paste or by saving them as named filter sets.
All modes of reusing criteria are fully interoperable with Filter on Custom Criteria.
Reusing criteria without saving
Individual criteria or the full filter set can be copied and pasted between tables.
Criteria can be copied as follows:
- Under the More... button, Copy All copies the entire filter set.
- The filter set can be copied from the History (
) view of an element produced by Filter on Custom Criteria (figure 9.14).
- Selected criteria or groups can be copied by choosing Copy from the right-click menu (figure 9.15) or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl (
on Mac) + C.
- Dragging and dropping selected criteria or groups while holding Ctrl (
on Mac) copies the criteria instead of moving them.
To select criteria or groups, hold Ctrl (
on Mac) and click the desired criteria/groups. To select a range, hold Shift and click the first and last criteria/group.
Copied criteria can also be stored in a text file and pasted back later.
Previously copied criteria can be pasted as follows:
- Under the More... button, Paste replaced the existing criteria.
- Criteria can be added without replacing existing ones by choosing Paste from the right-click menu (figure 9.15) or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl (
on Mac) + V.
Figure 9.14: The history of an element output by Filter on Custom Criteria includes the criteria used. The criteria definition found under "Comments" can be copied and reused elsewhere.

Saving and managing filter sets
Filter sets can also be saved for repeated use. Under the More... button, the Filter Sets menu provides actions for saving, managing, and applying filter sets (figure 9.16):
- Save Filter... saves a filter set (figure 9.17).
- Manage Filter Sets opens a dialog where filter sets can be renamed, deleted, applied, exported, or imported to share with other users (figure 9.18).
- Choosing a saved filter set updates the table filter to use the set and applies the filter immediately.

Figure 9.17: The "Save Filter" dialog shows the configured set and prompts for a name. The drop-down allows choosing an already saved filter set. Doing so will replace the set.
Figure 9.18: The "Manage Filter Sets" dialog shows saved filter sets. A selected filter set can be exported, renamed, deleted, or applied to the table. Filter sets can also be imported.
